Each video that I wrote, filmed, edited and uploaded to YouTube for Desert AIDS Project shows the services the agency offered its clients as well as my ability to shape messaging about those services into a format that touched our stakeholders: donors, boardmembers, staff and clients. They also show how nimble the agency has been in meeting the ever-changing needs of all its clients.
I wrote the script for this video to pinpoint all that D.A.P. accomplished in 2015 and how the AIDS service organization was re-positioning itself to meet the changing needs of core clients and the larger healthcare market.
I interviewed this client and scripted this video using her words.
Women often get ignored in the AIDS service environment. Experts say HIV-positive women carry more guilt and shame over their infection than gay men. Therefore, they aren’t as “out” about their status as the average male client. So, when I was filming the second annual Women's Empowerment Day, I wanted to give the women a chance to put their collective foot down and make their presence known while still protecting their identities.
Staff members acted out my script, which was part of a campaign to reach the Spanish-speaking community for National Latino AIDS Awareness Day 2015.
